Images
Images are ideal for static messages, promotion banners or interspersed between videos to give the viewer a rest.
Uploading an image
Images → Upload image.
- Pick the file (drag-and-drop works).
- Set a title and the owner company.
- Click Upload.
Verification
Just like videos, before adding an image to a production playlist verify it yourself on a real device. While images are less prone to playback issues than videos, a given file can:
- Have an unusual resolution/aspect ratio and end up cropped or letterboxed.
- Use a colour profile that looks different on the target screen.
- Be a PNG with transparency that doesn't render the way you expect against the player background.
- Be an animated GIF — the agent ignores it and doesn't play it.
The flow is the same as for videos:
- Images → row → Verify.
- Pick a test device — a Verification playlist with the image is sent to it.
- Physically check it looks right on the screen.
- Validate in the panel to mark it verified.
More detail on Videos → Verification.
Supported formats
| Type | Detail |
|---|---|
| JPG / JPEG | Recommended for photographs. |
| PNG | Recommended for graphics with transparency or text. |
| Static GIF | Works like a JPG. |
| Animated GIF | Does not play — the agent detects it and skips it. For animation, use a short MP4. |
Recommended resolution
- FHD (1920×1080) for standard landscape screens.
- Vertical (1080×1920) if your screens are portrait — set it on each screen.
- Larger images are scaled down by the agent. Smaller ones are centered or stretched depending on the display mode.
Display time
Each image in a playlist shows for N seconds, configurable per playlist or per item. If you don't specify a time the system uses 30 s by default.
Managing
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Preview | Click on the thumbnail — opens the original in a modal. |
| Edit | Change title or company. |
| Delete | Removes the image from the server and from every playlist. |
Optimisation
To reduce agent download time:
- Use JPG with quality 80 (a good size/quality trade-off).
- Resize to the exact resolution of your screen — don't upload 8K files for an FHD display.
- PNG only when you need transparency.
Hardware rules. A very large image not only takes longer to download, it also uses more RAM when the player draws it — on older devices that can cause flicker between slides, or the agent restarting due to memory pressure. Match resolution and weight to the most limited hardware in your fleet, and always verify on a real device before adding to production.
